In order for Confrere to fit seamlessly into the physician’s practice, we intend for this software to work in combination with other systems and tools that your office uses already.
It may be easiest to use your existing payment system, and send an invoice for the video appointment to your patient once it’s over. That way, your record system can also take into account any specifics to the way in which each of your patients pays.
Depending on your location and national healthcare system, you may be able to notate your video appointments as e-consultations in your electronic health record system.
For physicians practicing in the US, learn more about reimbursment and billing codes for video appointments in your state.
You may also allow patients to pay for video appointments by credit card through Confrere. When doing so, the patient is prompted to enter their card number, and the amount is reserved on their card before the video call begins. Once the call is completed, the amount is then deducted. Confrere does not take any cuts or fees from the amount your patients pay to you, as this payment solution is included in your subscription plan.
It is difficult to quantify the correct number of appointments to balance these considerations. When the patient contacts their physician rather than a private video doctor, it will nevertheless contribute to the continuity of their relationship, which in itself is a good thing for later health issues and the patient's overall health.
